Work From Home Online Tutoring Jobs

Are you skilled in reading, writing and arithmetic? Then you might be ideal for a home or online tutoring job. Tutoring online is a convenient and easy way for students to get help with their homework and for you to earn extra money while helping to educate America’s future.

Tutoring from home is easy. While summers and weekends are slower times, expect peak levels of work from September through May, Mondays through Thursdays in the afternoons and early evenings.

There are two main kinds of online tutoring: tutoring via email and tutoring in real time. Tutoring via email allows you to create lessons and the student use them when they need them, at their own pace. All contact, including any papers or tests, is done through email.

Tutoring in real time is similar to what many online universities now offer for their classes—one-on-one interaction as if you were in an actual classroom. This form of online tutoring can require a bit more in terms of computer set up if you need to have voice and video interaction. If that is the case, you will need a broadband Internet access, as well as a microphone and speaker and a shared screen or “white board” software. A digital mouse pen and a Web cam may also be helpful. Online tutoring in real time also requires some advance preparation to create white board slides explaining aspects of the lesson.

Whichever method of online tutoring you engage in, it is best to keep the classes small, create a lot of interaction both of which should encourage greater attention from the students.
